A short biography of Magic Carl

"At my first and second school, there were four different sorts of kids, The tough kids (or so they thought), the clever kids, the cool guys and the silly ones". Carl, originally from Sheffield was in the silly group at school. A bunch of friends who showed off to just about anyone who would pay attention. This continued to be the case as Carl moved up to high school, just slightly more grown-up silliness. "It was at my first school when a friend showed me a simple card trick that he learned. I was baffled and managed to get him to spill the secret. I too learned the trick and got to work showing off to friends and family. This was the beginning of my future career".

From then on Carl learned more tricks from books and continued showing off his new found art to friends at his next school. He would get home after school and look forward to watching magicians shows on TV. By the time Carl moved to high school, the magic stuff was just a kiddie thing and in the past, forgotten about. "I moved south to Bedfordshire in 1998 and something brought back an interest of my childhood hobby". It was 1998, Carl was 18. He saw a magician make something vanish in front of about 30 people. "It wasn't the fact that something vanished that intrigued me. It was the astonishment and laughter from the audience". Again Carl started to practice the art of magic. The new magic he was learning, mixed with his slapstick silliness that he never grew out of, really got attention from friends and

family. It started with close-up magic, but Carl wanted more... Laughter, silliness, acting etc.. And this is where the children's magic shows started. It was 1999, Carl was to put together a children's magic act, it had to have silliness, comedy, acting and of course magic. a year of practice and 10 family kids magic shows later, It was mastered and ready for the public audience of children. Later on Carl added a puppet act with ventriloquism into the show. Shortly after Carl added the option of a 2 hour show, where the first 45 minutes is music, dancing, games and prizes, then food (supplied by parents), then the all important magic show. "I added the 2 hour 'party magic show' simply to make it easier for the parents, because I do all the entertainment and the parents just feed the children". Carl is now a professional, full time magician and has established himself of one of the United Kingdoms favourite children's entertainers. Member of the world famous Magic Circle, The International Brotherhood of Magicians and Equity Performing Arts.
